The GCC Difference
Meet the GCC Staff
For over fifty years Grace Childcare Center has offered top quality preschool programs to the community. The center is very proud of our dedicated team of teachers and assistants. Together the staff has over 175 years of experience in the education field. They continue to further their own education by attending workshops, training sessions and college courses in the early childhood education field. Grace Childcare Center teachers value the opportunity to learn new things and implement the latest teaching methods and strategies in the classroom.
Grace Childcare Center exceeds the state licensing regulations by having more than one State of CT certified Head Teacher, and provides enough staff to maintain a teacher to child ratio which is lower than what is mandated by the childcare licensing department of CT.
At all times, Grace Childcare Center has multiple staff members working who are certified in Infant and Child CPR, First Aid and Administration of medications, including Epipens. The center is PEANUT/TREE NUT free in order to create the safest environment for our students with allergies.
We believe that a child learns best within a safe, nurturing environment and we make every effort to keep our facility clean, secure and welcoming. The teachers are dedicated to creating warm, yet stimulating, environments which foster social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
I have been at Grace Childcare Center going on 3 years and have had the pleasure to work in the Two Year old room. I have 14 years experience in Early Childhood Programs, as well as have completed schooling in Child psychology. I feel strongly that children learn through play when exposed to a variety of “hands-on” experiences. I believe that the best discovery and exploration happens at each child’s own pace
Miss Amanda- Head Teacher Full Day Pre-School Class
Although I'm new to Grace Child Care Center, I have been teaching for many years as well as Teaching Dance with students from three years of age and up. I'm a graduate of Connecticut University with a Major in Psychology and Mental Health.
At Grace Child Care our Philosophy is play based and through play and games, students learn to be independent, enthusiastic, and creative lifelong learners. I'm enjoying being part of the Grace Family and getting to know all the amazing children and their families!
Miss Del- Head Teacher Two's Pre-School Class
Hello, I've been working at Grace for almost a year in the two year old program. I have 12 years experience teaching in Child Care Centers. I have my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education.
At Grace our students are learning while playing and having fun. I love that through the Centers we have in our classroom they are learning such big concepts! Such as when children sing and dance they are learning literacy. When they sort blocks they're learning mathematical concepts and with dramatic play they are learning the fundamental social skills! Its a great system that really works and it shows!
Mary Lenoir, Teacher
I have been with Grace Childcare Center since the year 2000 and have been an early childhood teacher for the last 30 years. In that time, I have taught various ages from 2 to 5 year olds. I strive to create a nurturing classroom where all students know they are important. My mission, as a teacher, is to provide the children with an enriched learning environment that responds to the needs of the whole child. I also believe that play in the early childhood classroom is the best foundation for success in their school years to come. Positive play experiences develop positive emotional well-being. My work is child’s play.
Miss Mandy Teacher Twos Class
The Environment at Grace child care is warm and caring, everyone is willing to share ideas and work together for the betterment of the school. The hugs and laughter from the children make it all worthwhile and to know that I'm truly making a difference in the life of a child.
Mrs. Daniel- Head Teacher Half Day
Being a part of Grace Child Care Center the past three years has been such a blessing! The relationships I share with the parents, and other staff member's makes me feel like I'm being a part of a large family! I love that all the teachers at Grace know the names of most of the students in the entire school. Everyone from the staff to the parents, are supportive of one another. We take time to know our families and their independent needs and concerns.
Miss Lexi- School Teacher
Working at Grace has inspired and encouraged me to go back to school to become a Teacher. I enjoy working with children more than I ever thought possible! No other profession could provide me with as many opportunities to explore my creative and nurturing side in such a fun and challenging way! Being a part of the children developing life long skills is the ultimate reward!
Miss Tara- Teacher Full Day Room
I have Masters in Elementary Education and also minored in Psychology. I've been working in classrooms for the past few years and have been at Grace for almost a year now, which I really enjoy! As a nurturer, I am sensitive to the children's feelings and individuality and believe it is important to provide guidance and encouragement to them as they gain confidence and independence. I feel fulfilled when a child discovers an accomplishment and says "I did it!"
